Olin Health Center

Olin Health Center is located at 463 East Circle Drive on the north end of campus between Berkey Hall and the Grand River parking ramp. East Circle Drive will be closed May 25 through mid-August due to construction. Visit the MSU Construction web site for details.

Olin Health Center is open year round:

  • Fall & spring semesters
    • Monday thru Friday: 8 am - 6 pm
    • Saturday: 10 am - 1 pm
  • Summer/Break - Summer Hours begin Friday, May 4
    • Monday thru Friday: 8 am to 5 pm

Parking

Visitors to Olin Health Center are encouraged to use the Courtesy Van, or to park in the MSU Grand River Parking Ramp next to Olin. The metered parking requires quarters, and Olin does not validate or pay for parking within this parking structure.

Parking stubs from East Lansing parking lots and structures can be validated within Olin at the clinic in which a patient is treated.

Courtesy Van

The Olin Courtesy Van is available fall and spring semesters to transport students who, because of illness or injury, would have difficulty getting to and from the health center or the Hubbard Hall Clinic. This service is available to all students within a one-mile radius of the University. To reserve a ride, call 517-353-4700.

Cab Transportation

If it is not a medical emergency and an ambulance is not required, for an average of $2/mile or $3/person, students may call a cab for transportation to the hospital or urgent care clinic:

    The Olin PIN service is staffed by registered nurses who can provide answers to health related questions and advice regarding whether medical care should be sought. The Olin PIN service is available 24 hours per day, every day. When Olin is not open, students may wish to use any of the following services or check the local phone book under "Physicians" or "Hospitals". Please note that all of these services charge fees for service, and the fees are the responsibility of the patient.

  • Lansing Urgent Care

    505 N. Clippert, next to the Frandor Shopping Center. Lansing Urgent Care is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 9 pm and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm. This clinic offers medical care, lab and x-ray for non-life threatening illness and injury, such as cuts, sprains, flu or fever. The CATA route 1 bus line will stop at Frandor, Lansing Urgent Care is 1/8 mile north on Clippert. Lansing Urgent Care is an Aetna preferred provider. (1.84 miles from Olin Health Center)

     

    2289 W. Grand River, next to Playmakers. This is an alternative location for those who need help on the east side of MSU's campus. It offers the same services as the Frandor location. The CATA route 1 bus line towards Meridian Mall has a stop near this location. (2.4 miles from Olin Health Center)

  • Sparrow Okemos/Urgent Care Clinic

    Corner of Mt. Hope and Okemos Roads, 2248 Mount Hope Road, Suite 106. The Sparrow After-Hours Clinic is open every day from 9 am to 9 pm, including holidays. The CATA route 23 bus line will stop 1/4 mile from the corner of Mt. Hope and Okemos Roads. (3.84 miles from Olin Health Center)

  • 98point6 Emergicenter

    Located at the Mid-Michigan Physicians Complex, 1540 Lake Lansing Road, Suite 102, Lansing, MI. 98point6 Emergicenter is open Monday through Friday from 5 pm to 10 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 8 pm, including holidays. The Emergicenter is a hybrid between a walk-in urgent care clinic and an emergency department, and is available for treatment of adults and children with urgent medical problems or injuries, such as cuts, sprains, minor burns, bites, fever or allergic reactions. There is also an on site lab, x-ray and CT scanning available. (4.2 miles from Olin Health Center)

  • Sparrow Hospital Emergency

    1215 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI. Sparrow Hospital has a 24-hour emergency department. Students experiencing a medical emergency are advised to call 9-1-1 for ambulance transport to the hospital. In many cases, patients treated in the Sparrow emergency department will be referred to MSU Student Health Services for follow-up care. It is best not to utilize the emergency room if the illness/injury does not need immediate attention and can wait until the next morning. (2.87 miles from Olin Health Center)

    Emergency room service can be expensive, and most insurance policies will not cover service in the emergency room if it is not a true medical emergency. Additionally, at a minimum, an ambulance can cost $575 plus mileage. Students are advised to consult with their insurance company regarding the emergency services coverage.
