Spartan Smart is an alcohol education course designed to meet the needs of students who have received a first offense minor in possession (MIP) charge and/or civil infraction in lieu of an MIP charge. Spartan Smart provides an opportunity for students to reflect on their own drinking behavior in a judgement-free environment.
Spartan Smart is typically divided into two, two-hour sessions. Alternative Saturday courses are offered to students who cannot attend weekday hours; these courses consist of one, four-hour session with no break. The interactive program provides basic education, risk management, and bystander intervention strategies. Sessions are limited to no more than 15 students.
