Student COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Appointments Available at Olin Health Center

East Lansing, Mich., Jan. 11, 2022— Appointments for the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine booster shots are now available for Michigan State University students at Olin Health Center 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students can schedule an appointment by calling (517) 353-4660.

Olin Health Center (located at 463 East Circle Drive) is the university’s primary health care facility for MSU students.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently updated its recommendations for when people should receive a booster and expanded booster shot eligibility to include those 12 to 15 years old. The CDC recommends Pfizer-BioNTech for anyone 12 and older five months after their second dose. The Moderna booster is recommended for those 18 and older five months after their second dose. In most cases, those 18 and older who received a Johnson & Johnson’s/Janssen single-dose vaccination should receive a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna booster two months after vaccination.

In December, MSU President Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D. announced that the university would expand its COVID-19 vaccine mandate to require all students, faculty and staff to receive a COVID-19 booster. The deadline to receive a booster is Feb. 1, or 14 days after they become eligible for the shot, with limited religious and medical exemptions.
